Limitless: without end, limit, or boundary.
What a tough term to understand in the world we live in, where everything seems to have an end. A day finishes at midnight. This blog post will soon have a final sentence. Even the Bible, the book that promises eternal life, has a back cover.
It is what comes after the end, that is the whole point of this powerful word: Limitless.
Revelation 22:20-21, the last two verses in the Bible, reads
“Yes, I am coming soon…The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.”
The end is not when you finish reading. It is what you take out of the ending that matters. Here’s a quick example:
I grew up in a family of four. My baby sister, mom, dad, and awkward 15-year-old me. My father was a pastor and growing up, I listened to him speak, telling about God and all His wonders. Not only did I hear his words, but watched him practice what he preached at home, in restaurants, walking down the street, everywhere.
His mission is to care about peoples’ souls. To love unconditionally.
I knew it was hard to find people with that kind of steadfastness, and I was honored to be the daughter of such a person.
Fast forward to Groundhog Day. Such a silly day that people celebrate to predict the future’s weather by trusting a rodent’s shadow. This day would change my life forever.
This day, I heard the two words “Daddy’s dead” leave my mom’s lips.
The world stopped spinning, as I comprehended what that statement actually meant. It was a bad nightmare I would never wake up from. My father’s vibrant life had suddenly come to an end.
In the midst of this difficult ending, I found a new beginning.
Things changed, but the one thing that remained was the legacy of his passionate love for people. I must care about people. You see, my dad didn’t just leave a legacy of sermons for people to remember him by. He left a legacy to love without limits in the hope that others would learn to do the same.
Endings are simply beginnings to the Lord. Death bows down to Him, circumstances have no hold on Him.
Even the heavens cannot contain Him, for He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth! He heals the sick, gives sight to the blind. His understanding no one can fathom. Don’t limit the God you serve! God’s love through the generations is powerful and will never have boundaries. Out of our endings, how we live can make an eternal impact.
“It is impossible for a limited mind to grasp the Unlimited…but it is satisfying to turn from our limitations to a God who has none.” -A.W. Tozer
This is living the limitless life. A life fully satisfied in a limitless God.
